Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order assigning the historical name Stalingrad to Volgograd airport.
"In order to perpetuate the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, I decree: 1. To assign the historical name Stalingrad to Volgograd International Airport. 2. To establish that: the historical name assigned to the Volgograd International Airport is not an integral part of the established geographic object name," the document says.
